Hi! My name is Sallie. I’m often asked what dog breeds are in me…I don’t know for sure, but I feel like a terrier with some shepherd mixed in. I’m nine months old and weigh just over 30 pounds. I’ll probably get a little bit bigger, but I think most of my growth days are behind me.
What I can tell you is that I love people and other dogs. I like to go on walks, and I like to cuddle. I’ve got all the affection you could want in a dog. My foster parents have taught me how to quietly sleep in my kennel at night, and I’m house trained, provided you remember to give me regular outside time. OK, I’m biased…I know I’m the best dog ever. Perhaps I’ll let my foster parents offer their thoughts.
Sallie is telling the truth…she is sweet, affectionate, and gets along well with people and other dogs. She likes walks and doesn’t pull on the leash unless that nose picks up a smell that needs to be further researched. She likes to be active, but she can read the room and will settle down to fit the mood. Sallie does sleep in a kennel at night and not a peep is heard until the kennel door is opened in the morning. If you hear her bark, you know something isn’t right: she rarely
barks. When approaching other dogs, she will pull on the leash, wanting to meet and greet, but no barking. Sallie will be best suited for a home with a fenced in yard. She’s not likely to run off, but she enjoys time to explore on her own. She’ll fit well into a family with children (5 and older please) , but she’ll do equally well in other situations without children.
We hope you’ll enjoy meeting her…we know she’ll enjoy meeting you!
The adoption fee of $450 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!
If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!
*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.
