Introducing Kelly. This little girl arrived in pretty rough shape, but she is recovering well in a loving foster home.  Kelly is possibly a shih tzu/maltese mix estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old and weighs 15lbs and is completely housebroken . We don't know what Kelly's life was before she came in but she's come a long way from being shy and scared. Kelly was at first a very scared little girl and it took her a long time to warm up. She now is relaxed when held. She is a talker and will let you know when you are not moving fast enough getting her breakfast or dinner. Kelly has a favorite toy and will shake it so hard it goes flying across the room. She also enjoys a little chase and wants you to run so she can chase you (we "run" around our footstool). She likes you to pick her up to sit next to you or  she will sit on the floor next to you and will keep your feet warm at night when you sleep. Kelly can not get on and off the couch by herself and has not been able to learn the furniture stairs we have. It appeared she had never navigated stairs but with our encouragement she has gotten the hang of going down 3 - 4 stairs and can go up any number. This is likely from having some decreased vision that affects her depth perception caused by her dry eye condition.  Kelly will require daily eye ointment application for her dry eye condition, once a week eye wash to wash away the ointment and drainage that accumulates under her eyes and every other week chlorhexidine baths to keep her skin in good condition. She will require frequent grooming to keep the hair around her eyes short. Her eye treatment is challenging but doable - Kelly just needs a family who will commit to giving her care, love, and safety.  Kelly needs someone who is home most of the time and who fully understands going slowly and having lots of patience. Kelly can snap if disturbed when she is relaxing. We have learned to not disturb her and have not had an issue since we've earned this about her. Kelly is good with all dogs and does not bother with cats.

Kelly's new home needs to be one with no children or visiting grandchildren under the age of 16. A quiet adult home is the perfect environment and she will thrive there. 

The adoption fee of $300 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family.
