Meet the Marvelous Miss Macy! 

Macy is a 3yo terrier mix who weighs about 20-25 pounds. Before she joined Starfish, she was taught sit, shake, down, come, kennel up, get your toy, and drop it.  She may know more but I don’t know all the commands to try.

Macy is house trained, crate trained and leash trained (but will pull stubbornly when she sees an animal she wants to meet). Macy has a noticeable prey drive so she requires a home without small animals such as cats, rabbits, Guinea pigs, ferrets, birds, and dogs smaller than her, etc.  Because she is being fostered with senior chihuahuas, she has been gated in the bathroom while at my home.  She is not allowed to mingle with my small dogs because of her prey drive.  Macy and my alpha female chihuahua do not get along and can’t be together at all.  She and my submissive male chihuahua have a better relationship, but their interactions are unpredictable, requiring supervision at all times. 

Macy is content and quiet in her bathroom “den” and will often return there with the toys we play with, even when the gate is open and she has free roam of half of my home while my dogs are in the other half of the house.  We play fetch with her toys for about 10 minutes and then she chills nearby.  She displays the same short play time when visiting a friend’s fenced yard.  She is more interested in sniffing out critter scents and digging up nuts that the squirrels have buried. 

Macy also likes to lounge on the couch and recently jumped into my lap while visiting my friend’s yard.  Fun fact:  she prefers carpeting.  She pushes aside all blankets and towels in order to lay on the bathroom rug.  She found her way down the stairs to the basement landing that has carpeting and proceeded to make herself comfortable down there
