Meet Emma!  This confident, friendly, playful and outgoing little lady is a Maltese mix who is about 7-8 years old and about 14 pounds.  Emma loves making new friends, both human and canine. Miss Congeniality is a social butterfly and she has already built herself a fan club among her foster mom’s friends, neighbors, rescuers and vet staff.  Emma loves car rides, leisurely walks, squeaky toys, having run of the house, lounging outside watching the world around her, and happily introducing herself to anyone who will grant her an audience.  She’s a true companion who enjoys being near you unobtrusively during your activities.  

Emma immediately made herself right at home in her foster home, among the resident chihuahuas. She gets along with all dogs that she’s met, but hasn’t been around cats since in foster care. She’s calmly curious and very observant of the world around her.  She’ll bark for very specific reasons, especially if I don’t prepare her meal fast enough for her. She’ll bark to get me to play, to alert that there may be someone at the door, if she hears a car chirp as the doors lock, and if she hears a saxophone on the tv.  She doesn’t bark while out on walks or in the vet’s waiting room.  

Emma is gated (not crated) in a separate room during my long workday, but a dogwalker takes her out mid-day and spends time with her.  She has allergies that are being treated with Apoquel twice a day as well as quality dog food and supplements. Because she’s only been with us for summertime, we do not know if they are yearlong allergies or seasonal ones. 

Emma is housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on a leash.  She is the most well-adjusted foster dog that I’ve ever worked with, and is going to make some lucky family very happy. Emma is being fostered in Elgin, IL.

The adoption fee of $350 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Although we do the best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can make no guarantee. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED!
