About Addison

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 53091
  • Color: Tan
  • Current Age: 11 Years 6 Months (best estimate)

Sweet Addison had such a tough start in life that you will have a difficult time believing how far he has come. Before coming to a loving foster family in Illinois, Addison spent his life chained up outside no matter what the weather and was basically starved. He is really settling in well - he gets along famously with his foster family's FOUR dogs and loves ALL humans. Addison does not crave attention but when he is given attention he "lights up"! His foster mom and dad have been working diligently on teaching Addison to walk on a leash andare happy to tell you that Addison no longer tries to pull away while he is being walked on the leash .... YAY!
Addison is a very sweet, gentle, and low-key Collie Mix, a little shy when encountering new items IN a house (i.e., noises, etc.). His foster Dad is working with Addison on housebreaking him, but Addison doesn't quite know HOW to tell you that he has to go outside yet - so any Adoptive Pet Parent will need to anticipate Addison's potty needs. This dog would be suited best in a home with a fenced in backyard.

Addison sleeps IN his crate ALL night - and doesn't mind doing so! He doesn't actually have run of the house yet, but he can be tethered in the house and lay down on his comfy bed so that he gets to socialize with the rest of the dogs in the household! He is looking for the right family who will be committed to continuing to work with him. He would benefit from a training class designed specifically for dogs who are shy and need to learn the very basics.

The adoption fee of $300.00 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED!

If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website at www.starfishanimalrescue.com. Once you complete and submit your dog adoption application we will set up an appointment to meet this pup!
